American Seal & Packing
We supply industrial seals for all your mechanical sealing devices! Gasket Materials and cut gaskets which we cut in house. Mechanical Face Seals, and mechanical lip seals are on the shelf. Flexible Graphite valve packing sets, and braided packing sets are among our specialties. Newer products such as expanded PTFE (commonly refered to as Teflon) is in stock. If it seals, we sell it.
Supplying o-rings, standard gaskets and common seals is the easy part of our business. Our strength is in our expertise. We can not only make recommendations for problem applications, but we know who in our industry is best at each type of seal product. We know how to give the customer the most for their money.
One area we have been very helpful in is cut gaskets. With our new die less gasket cutting machine we can produce quality parts without having to wait a week for a die make to make a die to produce the gaskets. We also don’t have to pay a die maker (in house or out). Just send us a drawing and we will print the gasket you need, often shipping it out the same day.
There is no sealing device more expensive than a cheap one.

We stock Expanded PTFE Joint Sealant.
Expanded PTFE is a soft an conformable strip gasketing material with a peel and stick adhesive on one side. Stick it to your flange and create an instant gasket. Expanded PTFE has exceptional chemical compatibility and is goof for temperatures up to 500 F (600 F excursions).
Metal Bellows seals for high temp applications
AS&P provides multiple brands and our own line of metal bellows seals. We also offer a full line of mechanical seals including Single Spring, Multi-spring, and cartridge Seals. Our preferred brands are: AS&P, AST, Vulcan, Sepco, and Latty. We are not affiliated with U.S. Seal MFG.
Braided Compression Packing is another specialty for AS&P. We can supply specialty packings for fugitive emissions helping to maintain compliance with government agencies, or very simple packing for oils, water, food, pulp and paper, etc. We supply our own AS&P brand as well as popular brands including: Sepco, Utex, Teadit, and Garlock.
Mechanical Seals
The most common question we get is what should i use, Pump Packing or a Mechanical Seal?
Packing is excellent in a wide range of applications. The factors to consider are is leakage acceptable, and what cost target are you trying to stay under in the short term and long term. Mechanical seals are generally more expensive initially. However the longer you keep your pump in service, the more cost effective a mechanical seal can be. Most packings must leak an average of 6 drops per minute (with the exception of flexible graphite), to lubricate the shaft. American Seal & Packing stocks both packing and mechanical seals, and can help you decide what is best in your application.
