To be honest, swimming pools are not the most difficult applications we see, but it is one of the most common.  Especially, here in Southern California.  Chlorine is easy enough to handle as long as you are using a quality FKM (Viton). Pick up a cheap seal, with a poor quality elastomer and it will be attacked.  If the pool is a saltwater pool, (which is gaining in popularity), you may want to invest in hard faces for your mechanical seal. Salt can be abrasive and shorten the life of your seal.
