If a seal is installed in a pump that turns counter to the windings of the single spring, your seal can in fact be damaged.  That is a simple advantage of a multi-spring seal or metal bellows seal (we offer both).  The direction the impeller turns does not affect the seal.  It does make it far easier to stock a seal of each size that will fit each size pump you own. It can reduce your inventory costs.  Single spring seals are great but they do have some limitations.
